Incredible! The blend of Folk & Metal is wonderful! A lot of great Black Metal aspects on this album, and they are made even better when combined with folk elements, clean and unclean solo vocals, and the chants.
It is probably best to consider this a new band as the style is different to the other albums. That being said, it is a great album that makes me look forward to everything else Saor might deliver in the future.
SAOR, in Scottish Gaelic means free, without obligations, unconstrained. All of these characteristics intrinsic to the music of SAOR, the musical entity spearheaded by sole member Andy Marshall.
Presenting his fifth album and first release on Season of Mist, 'Origins' comes across as a more raging, black metal-infused effort, copiously evocative in its imagery and even melancholic in places, but decisively strong and abrasive at the same time.

Saw them in Atlanta open for Wolves in the Throne Room and was blown away. First time hearing them was live and that’s always killer
Got the first record on the way will be back for the second record. Hails Blackbraid killer songs , the riffing and atmosphere totally crush Shane Pool
Definitely much better than the B.I release, I think it's closer to Scandinavian-like melodic DM rather than extreme BM. Regardless, I love the result, though it's reminiscent of Wintersun's computer programmed elements put together by some AI-driven entity, I liked it a lot, just like Wintersun's Time. Not sure some of the tracks needed to be that long, but that's just personal taste. Overall is very good, not up to the hype, but surely damn good ! sachavonkarl74
